990,900 vehicles delivered in March (+2.5 percent)

The Volkswagen Group delivered just under 2.5 million new vehicles to customers in the first quarter of this year. In March, the Volkswagen Group handed over 990,900 vehicles to its customers. "We finished the first quarter with good delivery figures for March. The growth drivers for the Volkswagen Group were Europe and the North and South America regions, which saw a marked increase in new vehicle deliveries", said Fred Kappler, Head of Group Sales at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, commenting on the figures for March. "We expect to see a positive growth impetus in China in the second quarter", Kappler continued.
1.1 million new vehicles were delivered in Europe in the first quarter of 2017 (+4.4 percent). Group deliveries rose 6.0 percent to 474,300 units in March. 410,300 vehicles were handed over to customers in Western Europe in March, of which 131,600 were delivered in the home market of Germany, an increase of 5.8 percent. Deliveries in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe rose 11.9 percent to 64,100 during the same month.
The Company delivered 213,700 vehicles (+6.0 percent) in the North America region in the first quarter. 51,200 new vehicles were delivered in the USA, the region's largest single market, in March – an increase of 2.7 percent. Delivery figures developed very well in the South America region, where 46,800 new vehicles (+17.5 percent) were handed over to customers. The Brazilian market benefited from the positive trend in the region: deliveries in that country rose 12.7 percent to 29,300 units.
The Volkswagen Group handed over 357,200 vehicles to customers in the Asia-Pacific region in March – a decrease of 1.9 percent. In total, the Group delivered 973,700 vehicles (-6.9 percent) in this region in the first quarter. 324,500 new vehicles were handed over to customers in China in March (-1.1 percent). Compared with the record figure in China for the first quarter of 2016, deliveries in the first quarter of 2017 were down 6.7 percent.
